Can objects be different and be the same? Can a design be continually tweaked by the designer or changed by a buyer and not change production? For 5 days in May we tried it out at the Future Perfect in New York. We didn’t make it to 40 but we designed and made 22 lamps built on an adjustable aluminum armature with dozens of different cord materials. Here are some images of our portable studio and finished prototypes.

In the coming months, after a little more refinement, we plan to put a few of the designs into production. But there will always be the opportunity to customize a lamp in size, shape, material or color for specific projects.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by and chatted with us while we worked.

Here are a few of the blogs that commented on the project.

Build a shelf that suits your collection and your aesthetic.

Folded metal shelves lock into slotted steel tubes creating a system of possibilities. The single shelf shape can be installed in one of four positions allowing a large range of patterns across an installation. The number of combinations welcomes the user as a collaborator and not merely a consumer. The folded steel allows an extremely thin shelf which almost disappears. The negative space that you create becomes the primary focus as well as the objects on display.

Joint Venture is manufactured by RS Barcelona

The final prototype of our new metal shelving system is almost finished. We are really excited about this project. It is a scalable metal wall system where a single shelf shape can be installed in one of four positions allowing countless patterns in assembly enabling the user to collaborate on the design.

We will be officially launching the “Joint Venture” this spring.
